About:
This version of Vampire uses the same texture grid effect as the second version of Flair's layout...what can I say? I use it once and I have to use it again ^^;; It's hard to see in the thumbnail and even when you enlarge the picture the original texture pattern is distorted. Just trust me when I say it looks cool ^_~
The picture I used is very dear to me for one major reason...I captured it myself! Actually, my sister is the one who got the screen cap but the point is it's an original pic not taken from another site. Snaps for me!! If anyone is looking for pictures of Claire, I have an image gallery in the fanlisting with a TON of images all screen caped by either my sister or me, and they're all free! No linking back required either, hehe!
Okay, enough advertising my own sites...the technical end of this layout consists of all tables. Lots and lots of them! There is reason for this. Since a fanlisting is supposed to unite fans, I thought it would be better to use tables, a tag most browsers support, instead of frames, a less universal format. That way, more people (and potential members) can see my site. Makes sense, huh? Another reason I use tables is because if there is a missing page, my 404 error that is displayed will look MUCH better and be able to help lost visitors find their way. This layout is also 800 x 600 compliant, a resolution I'm surprised is still very widely used. I myself use 1024 x 768 and find it difficult to look at anything lower. It's a fact that many older monitors are optimized to use 800 x 600 so I'm not criticizing what other people use. As long as they go to my site, I will provide them with a compatible layout ^^
There's also a bunch of little techniques that I've used to tie this layout together. One is the use of two different scrollbars. The main page has a black scrollbar, which blends into the background so you can't tell it's there. The textbox uses an entirely different one. It has an overall blue color and a transparent track so you can see the picture of Claire through it. Nifty :D
The second technique is the use of text links. Before I was using an image map as navigation but text links are much easier to code, take up less space, and more can be added without a lot of hassle. For a growing site this is exactly what was needed. As you can see, there is an entirely new section that has been added called "Extra." It was not possible to use this in the first version because of a conflict when using a wide image map and too small of a frame. Should have thought of that sooner...but I didn't -_- Lame me!! >_<
Alrighty, time for my overall opinion of it! *Drum roll* I like it a lot! :) Not as classy as the first layout, but it's able to be viewed by many more visitors, which makes it more valuable to me ^^ What's the use of a layout if no one is able to see it? Well, it's a little simple and I don't have the site name listed at the top in big letters. That's the only thing I can think of. Oh yeah, Claire's lip ring isn't visible in this layout!! Aww man... ^_~
