Claire Leonelli is the best!! I was sooo excited when I was approved to run his official fanlisting ^^ Yes, so at first I didn't know what kind of layout to use. Being my first fanlisting and all, I didn't have much to go by…sooo, I looked around at other listings to get some much needed inspiration. The horizontal-bar-in-the-middle-of-the-page looked cool and I never tried it before. BAM! Inspiration. Hehe...

To get the black 'n white pic of Claire was somewhat of an accident. I was playing around with effects in paint shop and happened to adjust the threshold. The vector art style that resulted from my trial and error efforts looked so cool^-^ I've always loved vector art but was never able to produce it. One small problem though…I love Claire's purple eyes but when I adjusted the threshold, black and white were the only colors that showed. No prob. I just filled them in with the paint tool. When you think about it, having the entire picture black and white except for the eyes really draws attention to them, which was what I was going for anyway. Score!

Black and white together look classy, in my book anyway. But, they also simplify a layout a great deal, which is one reason I hardly ever use them. I've found out that dealing with only two colors can either turn out really good or just BLAH! When designing the first layout, I definitely didn't want the latter to occur. Claire's purple eyes added some extra color and I decided that I should use that to my advantage and work with purple to bring the page to life! But the top and bottom bars had to be just the right hue or else a weird optical illusion occurred when someone looked at them against the dark solid background. My eyes went all crossed and swirly!! @_@

On the splash page is the Japanese word for vampire, pronounced kyuuketsuki. When you place your cursor over it, a cool wind-swept effect appears, which mirrors the text "VAMPIRE" on the main page. I got the idea for this from the Heat Guy J official soundtrack, Burn, where they have white text on top of a black background. Again, very classy ^^
